In it together. Not even celebrities aren’t immune from the coronavirus. Now in the third year of the pandemic with multiple variants under our belts, many celebrities have come down with COVID. And it’s no surprise. With over to 550 million cases reported worldwide since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the virus clearly hasn’t been discriminating when it comes to who gets sick.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were among the first celebs to confirm they had contracted the disease back in March of 2020. At the time the ‘Forrest Gump’ star shared an optimistic message with fans. “We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.”

First Lady Jill Biden was revealed to have tested positive on Tuesday, August 16. Her Communications Director Elizabeth Alexander tweeted a statement, explaining that she eventually received a positive PCR test after experiencing ‘cold-like symptoms late in the evening’ on Monday.

Drake announced that he tested positive in an Instagram Story and that he would have to reschedule a concert on Monday, August 1, 2022. “Until then I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and I love you all. I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the moment I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage (except Covid),” he wrote.

Seth Meyers tested positive for coronavirus not once, but twice. He first announced his positive test on Jan. 4, 2022. ‘The bad news is, I tested positive for COVID (thanks, 2022!),’ he tweeted. ‘The good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!) The Late Night with Seth Meyers host then tested positive once again on July 27, 2022. ‘After negative tests Monday and Tuesday I tested positive for COVID this morning,’ he informed his fans. ‘Canceling shows the rest of this week. Apologies to our scheduled guests and loyal viewers!’
President Joe Biden
US President Joe Biden shared that he was sick with a ‘mild’ case of COVID on Jul. 21, 2022. The White House released a statement which said, ‘This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.’

Stephen Colbert At CBS Upfront
Stephen Colbert was announced to have tested positive for COVID-19 on the morning of April 21. The news was shared by the official Late Show Twitter account, as it was announced the Thursday night show would be cancelled due to the diagnosis.
“Stephen Colbert has tested positive for Covid 19,” the message read. “Tonight’s show is cancelled. As previously planned, the show will be airing repeats tomorrow through next week. We will return with new episodes on May 2nd.”
Barry Manilow At The NYC Homecoming Concert
Barry Manilow made an announcement on April 13 that revealed he would have to miss the opening night and New York debut of his and Bruce Sussman’s musical Harmony later that evening because he tested positive for COVID-19.
“I am heartbroken to say that I have just tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t be able to attend tonight’s opening night performance of my new musical, Harmony,” he said in a statement released on social media just hours before the show was about to begin. “This just might be the cruelest thing that has ever happened to me: 25 years waiting for this show to premiere in New York, and I can’t attend.”
He went on to end on a positive note that encouraged New Yorkers. “Even in the face of this pandemic, we New Yorkers remain the toughest, staunchest people on the planet,” he said. “So, put on a mask and go see a show!”

Bill Maher tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the May 14 taping of ‘Real Time with Bill Maher,’ which was alarming because the host had received his vaccine, according to a press release from HBO. “He is fully vaccinated and as a result is asymptomatic and feels fine. ‘Real Time’ production has taken every precaution following COVID CDC guidelines. No other staff or crew members have tested positive at this time. The show will be rescheduled at a later date”

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns confirmed he tested positive for the virus on Jan. 15, 2021 after losing 7 family members — including his mother — to the disease. “I pray every day that this nightmare virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all of the necessary precautions. We cannot stop the spread of this virus alone,” he wrote via social media. “It breaks my heart that my family. particularly my father and sister continue to suffer from the anxiety of this diagnosis,” he added.

Grimes, 32, confirmed via social media that she’s contracted the COVID-19 virus. “Finally got COVID, but weirdly enjoying the Dayquil Fever Dream,” the mother of Elon Musk’s son X Æ A-12, 8 months, posted on Jan. 9. The Vancouver native also included a Spotify share of SZA’s ‘Good Days,’ saying, “this song is sooooo” along with several space and moon related emojis.

Dr. Drew Pinsky revealed on Dec. 29 that he had been battling COVID-19 for the past six days, but had made it past the viral period. He also said he was on his way to a recovery.

Charlie Hunnam revealed he has the coronavirus in early 2020. “I just lost my sense of taste and smell for about 10 days and had a little bit of fatigue,” he said of the virus.

Khloe Kardashian battled coronavirus in 2020. It was shown on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 13, 2020. He was not ill though, and had been asymptomatic for the coronavirus. The announcement came from Portugals’ soccer federation, which added that Ronaldo would be isolating from his teammates.

The couple both got sick. “It happened very early [in the pandemic], like late March, early April. We were doing our best before, and I thought I had the flu, and I didn’t want to be paranoid about it…And then I lost my sense of taste and smell, which was a big indicator, so we holed up,'” the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star revealed. However, Neil assured fans that they were doing “great” after recovering from COVID-19.
Tiffany Haddish
In Aug. 2020, Tiffany Haddish revealed to the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, that she once tested positive for the coronavirus! Tiffany explained that someone in a movie that she was working on “contracted coronavirus.” Despite not “feeling any symptoms,” her second test came back positive for the virus.
Tiffany has been routinely tested for the coronavirus since then. During the interview, Tiffany said her most recent test revealed that she didn’t ‘have any antibodies’ and so she joked, ‘I think I’m superhuman.’

I am POSITIVE for covid antibodies. I had Covid19,” she confirmed.

Mel Gibson, 64, tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this Spring. “He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital,” his rep confirmed to ‘People’ on Thursday, July 23. “He was treated with the drug Remdesivir, while in the hospital, and has tested negative numerous times since then as well as positive for the antibodies,” the rep added. Mel was hospitalized in Los Angeles, California, and was out grocery shopping with girlfriend Rosalind Ross before falling ill.

In a July interview with ‘Forbes,’ Kanye West revealed that he had coronavirus back in Feb. 2020. He said that he experienced “chills” and “shaking in bed” while sick with the illness.

Pink, 40, has confirmed that she and her 3-year-old son Jameson tested positive for COVID-19 after showing systems. “My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative,” the singer wrote on Instagram, captioning a photo of her and her son. In light of her diagnosis, Pink also announced she would be donating money to related causes.

Bravo superstar Andy Cohen revealed that he tested positive for the new coronavirus on March 20, 2020. He shared a selfie taken in bed on Instagram, announcing that he received the positive test “after a few days of self-quarantine” and “not feeling great.”
Colton Underwood
Colton Underwood, who was the Season 23 ‘Bachelor,’ revealed that he tested positive for the new coronavirus on March 20, 2020. He broke the news in a video filmed at the Huntington Beach home of Cassie Randolph’s parents, where he was self-isolating. “I want to let you guys know: I’m 28, I consider myself pretty healthy, I work out regularly, I eat healthy, and I became symptomatic a few days ago, got my test results back today, and they are positive,” Colton said in the video. He admitted that COVID-19 has been “kicking [his] a–” and “can’t even walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath or go to the bathroom without having to sit down.”
Idris Elba
Idris Elba is the latest celebrity to reveal that he has been diagnosed with coronavirus. He shared the news via social media on March 16. “This morning I tested positive for COVID-19,” he wrote. “I feel ok. I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”
His wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, revealed in a March 22 FaceTime with Oprah on IGTV that she too has tested positive — but confirmed she is asymptomatic. “I don’t feel anything that would come to what people would now expect to be a symptom of coronavirus, which is really strange,” Sabrina said to Oprah Winfrey over a FaceTime conversation. “It might change in the coming weeks, and we’ll keep everyone updated. But it is worrisome that we’re sitting here, two people, and … we’re asymptomatic.”
