Shawn Mendes was left to “Wonder” why he received a mysterious text from Mariah Carey.
The “We Belong Together” singer sent a text to the wrong Shawn, taking to Twitter today (March 18) to share a screenshot of the text message she had sent to Mendes.
She captioned the photo, “My cousin Shawn M and I have this silly joke where we tell each other Happy Thanksgiving on St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ @ShawnMendes found out about it today.. sorry Shawn!!😂 ”.
In the screenshot, we see the 23-year-old responded in a sweet way. Saying, “hahahaha that’s okay i figured it was an inside joke❤️ ❤️ ”.

Fans may remember that last year Mendes shared a shirtless photo of him basking in the sun with the caption, “Grateful 💙 The sun, coffee, my health, my family, old Mariah Carey songs, music, humans!!!!”.
The next day, the iconic R&B singer tweeted a photo of her replicating the same pose as Mendes with the caption, “Grateful 💖 The sun, tea, my health, my family, old Shawn Mendes songs, music, humans!!!!”
This unexpected friendship has been adored by fans, and honestly, we ship it too! Maybe a collab in the future…? Yes, please!
