From ‘Push It’ to ‘Let’s Talk About Sex,’ legendary hip-hop stars Salt-N-Pepa are known for delivering classic hit after hit. In February 2020 the daring duo took things one step further, by collaborating with Milani Cosmetics to produce a limited edition makeup collection. Cheryl ‘Salt’ James and Sandra ‘Pepa’ Denton spoke to HollywoodLife about their new line, which they have described as being ‘timeless.’ With its eyeshadow and highlighter palettes that are designed to look like CDs the line is making a statement about where they’ve come from and looking ahead to today’s bold attitude when it comes to music, fashion and style. “We’re going through a time that Salt-N-Pepa has experienced, from coming from the album to CDs,’ Pepa said. ‘Now it’s streaming. Having this little keepsake and a reminder of the other time of when CDs came out… To call the colors the name of our songs, is [an] accomplishment all the way down.’

Salt-N-Pepa say that their limited edition makeup collection has colors and shades for everyone. That includes the bold style of Pepa and the muted, classic tones favored by Salt.
Salt-N-Pepa’s Palette
Salt-N-Pepa’s makeup features two eyeshadow and highlighter palettes, which are named after two of their albums – ‘Hot, Kool & Vicious’ and ‘Very Necessary.’ The palettes are packaged in a faux CD case.
‘Shoop’ Lip Kit
Salt told HollywoodLife that she loves the ‘Shoop’ lip kit, which is named after the duo’s classic ’90s hit. ‘It’s that collection that you didn’t know you needed,’ she told HollywoodLife.

Pepa loves the ‘Push It’ lip kit, which is a reflection of her bold style. ‘I wore red,’ she told HollywoodLife. ‘Red is the go-to color of mine. If you see the packaging… I have on red lips back then when we [were] doing the asymmetrical [hair] and the eight ball jacket…’
